With the approach of the new year, we look back at 2020 and discover that, despite its many challenges and difficulties, there was also plenty to celebrate. What are difficult times, after all, but an opportunity to be at your best? We all may feel a real sense of relief as we bid 2020 adieu but it wasn’t all bad.
2020 started off as most years do, then took a sharp turn for the unusual. Big annual events like Tanglewood Festival, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, and entire theater seasons were cancelled or went virtual. Museums, galleries, restaurants, just about anything you might want to visit, was in similar straits. Before we knew it, everything was upside down and any plans you might have had for the year went right out the window.
Luckily, when restrictions allowed, we were able to soldier on. Our Berkshires bed and breakfast provided lodging to both our usual inn guests and essential workers in this unusual year.
And that’s where the good comes in.
Sharing the Berkshires of western Massachusetts with our guests is always a joy. In times like what we faced in 2020, however, it was an honor and a privilege to provide respite and distraction to guests who were in much need of both. Our goal was to adapt the inn to all recommended safety recommendations as seamlessly as possible, in order to sacrifice as few of our normal comforts as possible.
